    We had our last regular season game on November 7th and it was a battle for 1st place with the Calgary Stampeders.  We had the advantage of being able to play at home and our fans are truly insane.  The Roughriders are owned by the community much like a publicly traded company.  Therefore, the fans have much more than pride and glory to cheer for.  They have literally invested money in the team and it makes for a hellacious fan-base.

However, there are no better fans than Utah fans ;) . 

    Anyways, we ended up defeating Calgary 30-14 and we took 1st place in the Western Division, thus giving us a first round playoff bye.  I had a pretty good showing averaging 44.5 yards on 6 punts and had a 90 yard kickoff.  Strange to hear that, but they count the kickoff distance to where it ends up.  In the air it went about 75 yards and went over the returners head.  We are jumping back into full practices this week now that the team has freshened up from the bye week.  For me, the bye week was a great time to regain some lost ground with my classes this semester.  Midterms, projects, textbooks... they never seem to go away!  However!  A victory this Sunday will put us into the Grey Cup (equivalent to the NFL Superbowl).  What is also strange is that we are actually playing Calgary again, at home... again.  But our team is rearing to go with both provincial glory and a Grey Cup salary bonus on the line. 

    With all of this going on, I still can't wait to come back to Salt Lake City and jump back into my coaching spot and lend a helping hand to my Utes!  A huge victory against SDSU this week will be the perfect remedy for the loss last week.  I will update you guys as soon as the outcome this weekend is determined.
